Task 1
Give a short description of each and an example if possible from a film of your choice:

Genre analysis –Genre is a French word meaning type for example Sherlock Holmes is a thriller because it starts off with a crime scene and many mysteries within which Sherlock Holmes investigates to find the culprit. 
Content analysis describes the visual, spoken and written communication within a film
Narrative analysis is the layout of the film beginning, middle and ending (what is and is about to happen.)

2a) define reception study - This is how the audience defines the film, relates and understands the meaning.
2b) define fan study- This looks at the fan base that are following certain films and researches what they would like in the foreseeable future for example Marvel, DC, Harry Potter.

3) Choose a film different from your example the content, narrative and genre. What a short paragraph covering all 3 areas
The film I have chosen in Pulp Fiction which was released in 1994 and was directed Quentin Tarantion in which he had a small role and stared many famous actors from that era. The genre of Pulp Fiction is comedy, thriller and Indie. The narrative of this film is of two mafia hitmen who are looking for their boss’s drug money, the story leads you into different plots within the film that after they have played out lead you back to the main characters again. The content of this movie is about drugs, thieves, violence, and sometimes of a sexual nature.

Task 2
The Great Wall
The director of the Great Wall is Zhang Yimou he is a Chinese director/ producer. Zhang Yimou was born April 2nd in 1950 he is now sixty-eight years old. The genre for the Great Wall is fantasy / mystery/ action. The intended audience for this movie is action seeking fans and people who like strategic fighting scenes and people who appreciate Zhang Yimou.

The Meg
The director of the Meg is Jon Turteltaub he was born August 8th, 1963 and he is now fifty-five years old, with his most recent movie being the Meg. The genres of this movie are horror/ thriller / action and fantasy. The attended audience for the Meg is shark enthusiasts / thrill seekers / fans of shark week and people who thought the advert was intriguing.

Define:
Structuralism is looking at something as a whole then breaking it down into its smaller elements. For example, a grape is red in colour, soft, sweet and juicy.

Semiotics are visual aids to help us with communication for example road signs that indicate what is needed to make driving safe on the road.

Auteur theory is the creator and director of the film that puts their individual style within it, with followers of the director being able to tell that it has been directed by him. For example, Quentin Tarantino directs and has a role within most of his films.

Feminism is the belief in the social, economic, and political equality of the sexes For Example Feminism is the belief that women should be treated equal to men, with fare pay structures and equal job opportunities.

Queer theory - Queer theory is how sex, gender and language are related to sexual identity.

Marxism is a structure of class within society, For example higher and lower class.

The theory of Psychoanalytic started to receive serious attention by Sigmund Freud and refers to personality development and the unconscious mind,

The advert is simple but in your face it gets the point across. The go compare radio advert is funny and gets the point across
